ABOUT

Dr. Rachel Kleinman received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, with a concentration in geropsychology and cognitive behavioral therapy. During her years at Ferkauf, she joined the Ferkauf Older Adult Program (FOAP), assisting in its inception and later working as an extern. She completed her internship training at the Bronx VA where she received substantial clinical and research experience in geriatric mental health and neuropsychology.

Dr. Kleinman caters her practice towards the aging population, specifically the diagnosis of psychopathology and treatment pertaining to geriatric mental health. In addition, she has received extensive clinical and didactic exposure to the comorbid medical conditions and psychopharmacological treatments often implemented in primary care settings with underserved, diverse older adults. This has given her a greater understanding of life-span development, and how people cope with loss and change.

Dr. Kleinman has been a member of the Department of Behavioral Sciences at City University of New York since 2013. As an Adjunct Assistant Professor, she teaches Psychology of Aging, Life Span Development, and Introduction to Psychology at multiple CUNY campuses including Queensborough Community College, Kingsborough Community College, and Hostos Community College. She is equally devoted to the success of her students.

Dr. Kleinman works with emerging adults and older adults in individual and group therapy at her practice in Great Neck, NY.
